Telstra are shutting down the CDMA network. How do i know if my mobile is a CDMA or 3G?

I really can't afford a new handset.

But i don't know if my mobile is 3G or CDMA.

HOW DO I FIND OUT?

Can we covert a GSM mobile as a CDMA mobile?

I have a Nokia GSM cell. But I would like to put a TATA (CDMA) SIM card in it. If I want to do so- it should be converted as CDMA. Is it possible. If possible whom do I consult?

no CDMA prepaid service (CDMA) will allow you to use ur own CDMA phone on their prepaid service. CDMA phones can only be activated through dealers or customer service and to do so the ESN must match an exact model the carrier supports. but the better CDMA prepaids are: Virgin Mobile (go to Radioshack)

No. CDMA phones cannot be unlocked. CDMA phones and networks do not use sim cards. Unlocked only refers to GSM and iDEN phones and means they can accept a sim card from a compatible provider. Since Telstra doesn't use iDEN, if your phone has a sim card it has to be GSM. You'll need a GSM phone to work with a GSM sim card.

I dont think CDMA mobiles work on Sim...its the GSM ones which work on sim.
